Fallout3 or this?

And consider Fallout is now 40 bucks at Target new right now. 

Do you want multiplayer or not? Both are barren wasteland/exploration games. BL has lots of quests and a more run/gun feel to it and a ton more loot. Fallout3 is the type of game you creep around slowly and try and sneak up on groups of guys. The combat can be much different since you have the slowdown menu where you can aim at body parts. Fallout 3 has a crazy amount to do, see and explore and is a pretty solid single player. BL is a loot fest like Diablo 2. If you're all about constantly finding new weapons and seeing whats better, it's worth checking out.

Tough choice. I haven't played Borderlands yet, but Fallout 3 is excellent, easily one of the best games of this generation.

Fallout 3 can be played like he said, but it's not Metal Gear Solid by any stretch, you can certainly run and gun in it. Sounds like the deciding factor might be if you prefer single or multiplayer shooting. 

Getting this tomorrow on the brit release day. Been looking forward to it for yonks!

There is no morality system. You're a good guy, trying to rid the wastelands of bad guys and help people along the way while searching for some rumored 'Vault' of alien technology. I think three and I ran across a little hint of that last night.

And raff, so far I'm the sniper and three is a siren, I haven't seen anyone as Brick online yet. Mord and Roland seem to be the most common guys. 

I will likely be Brick because my brothers insist on being snipers and I'm not sure if I want to be a chick. 

I'm only level 23 so I can't say for sure, but the class you pick really doesn't have any huge bearing on the game. It just tweaks your playstyle slightly. I hardly every use the hawk as the sniper. And there are a lot of times you won't be able to use your sniper rifle, because in a wave of mobs you don't have the time to aim for a head. Everyone uses every gun, and as long as you raise your proficiency with them and you get a gun with decent stats, you'll do fine.

Then again, I could be wrong and it's just that my guys class skill is lame. The turret does seem potentially useful if spec'd properly and I know three has been using the sirens phasewalk to run super-fucking fast and set shit on fire. I've no clue how brick holds up, but some of his talents are really desirable. Namely increasing health and shield max, being able to stay alive for twice as long when on one knee and such.

I'm thinking of starting a medic-tree/heavy weapons Roland for MP purposes. 

That will probably be my next character once I'm done with the sniper. I'm thinking it'd be good to rework my skills at some point and make them more team friendly. Potentially get the treasure-hunting skills to get more loot. But I doubt if that helps much with finding stuff. Plus I realized last night, once you get to the 2nd major town you can just keep loading the game and check 5 (that I've found) weapon crates and keep finding tons of crazy loot and sell it or keep it. So maybe the skills for damage and life regen are all that matter right now. 

I'm finding the initial part of the game is WAY easier with Brick. He just soaks up bullets and squeezes them back out at the baddies. 

Yeah, just took down the first boss on the first try, in about 30 seconds. I think the berserker is a little unbalanced. 

This looks like Fallout 3 with a better visual style, but less atmospheric. 

From what I hear, Brick slows down and later on is possibly underwhelming. Could just be people not allocating points properly. But that is pretty cool. I remember the first boss guy took me quite a bit of time, and lots of ducking and hiding. 

I just ran straight in berserker style and beat the living shit out of him, then sidestepped and shotgunned his skags.

Brick will kill the fuck out of anything he can get close to. It's the dudes with good guns that cause problems. But that's why I'm taking the tank route, so I can just take the punishment. By the end of the tank skill tree I think you actually regenerate health when you get hit in berserker mode. 

I am playing but its on my roommates 360 who doesnt have any of you guys friended. Once I catch up to him, I'll happily start a new game on my xbox and play with ya'lls. 

Now the website shows a pc version too, is this a lie?

Have you been hiding in the basement? Boderlands was available for pre-order like 4 weeks ago on Steam, it rolls out in 4 days.

Yeah the PC version came out 6 dates late, so I didn't feel like waiting. If it proves to have a long play life I may get it if Steam ever does a cheap deal on it or something. I'm not sure how long the game will continue to be this awesome. If at max level there is still a challenge involved, I'm sure it'd still be fun to go blow stuff up.

I'll play, hopefully later on tonight.
I'm building him to be a fucking tank first. High defense and life, so I can continue to be that asshole who runs in like an idiot and always need reviving. Haha!

May not need a large upgrade, looks like basically if you can play UT3 you should be fine with this, same engine and the developers say should be about same in graphics usage.

I picked it up, started single player to get a feel for it and forgot to sign into xbl. Yay, all my single player game is lost because you can't save if you aren't signed into xbl.
