Yes. Of course that statement can be taken to the positive or the negative.
So I got done with huntsville face-to-face
good times
the dude up there is hardcore DBA, less sysadmin
however, he knows only marginally more than me of 11g, so it's all good. we spent a lot of time on Thursday cracking open a problem that will give us the ATO, so it was 100% worth it
I'm feeling so much better about the whole situation now, better grasp on things, I know what's going on up there.

I hate IIS.
Why yes IIS sucks decaying donkey balls. What's worse is a piece of software written to make insanely heavy use of IIS for an environment that doesn't even need it and it breaks--requiring a service restart--every couple of days and sometimes 8 times in a day. Development is clueless. IIS doesn't produce a damn bit of information about the issue. MITG.
Hey while I'm here...
'Why yes, I completely understand that you need your network account re-enabled. Oh why yes I'll do that absolutely immediately, let me ignore this IIS problem for the moment because you suddenly need this account a day after it was disabled automatically from a 60-day period of inactivity.' FU
Don't look now... it's Monday. I need to grab my Tylenol and the secret stash of RPG-7s.

wtf am i missing to get an offsite copier to scan to email?
smtp gateway entered into the copier?
copier allowed to use that gateway?
is the copier only setup to send to pre-programmed addresses, or can it send to anyone?
is there a restriction on the copier to only email within domain?

You just randomly plug in desktops that find floating around? Did you read that article about the security consulting company that illustrated that one of the biggest IT risks is by physically gaining access to the network by distributing all those thumb drives loaded with viruses?
Resistance is futile
In this context, sounds like a KY slogan.
guys
I just found a HP proliant server in the parking lot
it looked pretty cold, not being in the rack and all
should I rack this bitch up and plug it into the giga?

Ask more specific questions ;)
Which makes me think of our office. When you log a call, the technician will usually ask where you sit in the office. People, naturally, will give where they sit ("in finance", say). "I mean where in the office do you sit?" ("4th floor, just to the left of the scanner"). They only want to figure out what the asset tag on the machine is though.
So now my conversation with them goes:
"Where do you sit in the office?"
"ABC-1234"
"Errr...."
:p
Why don't you just asset tag each machine and just ask the user what the tag is?
or if they take them off, put a custom background up that lists IP/asset tag/user ID logged in so they always have it

If IT doesn't have a way to determine where someone sits ( and what equipment they have assigned to them) that is their failure - I freely admit that.
Inventory control/Asset Management.
I wish the biggest issues with end users was getting "where do you sit" out of them hahaha
